My heart hurts for everyone impacted by this horrific disease ..all I want to do is hug Trevor, he seems so kind hearted and genuine. As a trans person myself this has been and will always be my greatest fear. I lived a promiscuous life up until 2 yrs ago. I sold my body and used protection 98% of the time but I wanted love trust and to feel truly wanted in a loving way that I got on prep and took a few chances with guys. I thank my Lord above that he keep me safe despite the horrible lifestyle I was living. I didn’t do drugs and I didn’t drink. I finally got tired of it and one day just stopped and got two jobs. I made a ton of money and a lot of times it was so easy but I was living in this horrible sinful life. I realized if I kept on something bad could have happened so I’m grateful everyday to the Lord above for always keeping me safe and forgiving me. I realize a lot were not fortunate and the lives we lost to this disease because the government didn’t want to do anything about it for a long long while. It’s like the ones before me and my time fought so hard for equality and went through so much and finally when we got a small glimpse of light at the end of the tunnel where it was okay to be who you are freely this horrible disease came along and people actually believed it was a payback for being gay 😢 I pray whole heartedly that one day we can put an end to this disease and find a cure 😢 thank you Trevor for sharing your story. It touched my heart and I wish you many many years health and happiness with your partner ❤

What a stupid advert. Reviving a little bit of stigma is not worse than getting HIV. Taking a pill everyday does not mean it “Can’t be spread”. It reduces the risk of it being spread but doesn’t make it impossible as you’re saying by any stretch of the imagination. The way you’re making it out in would be pushing to say you’re twisting it. And penalising NHS nurses for taking precautions it not you receiving stigma from a nurse. It’s quite reasonable to take precautions given cases are higher than ever.

When will this be shown on English TV, as far as I can see this was only aired on Scottish TV.

Why you make these videos I will NEVER ever know. It does no good at all for the person and no good at all for the world. The issue isn’t Oli - or me. The issue isn’t that our HIV test result will say positive while others will say negative (the only actual difference) Anyway - This man and all people with HIV are seen as ‘dirty and disgusting’ and ‘unclean’ The world unfortunately is not able to be mature about this topic. Also people use the knowledge of a status as a weapon, as ammunition to attack and I’ve personal experience of this struggling to keep it confidential. The problem is the public - not people with HIV who are totally normal in everyway - can have unprotected sex as much as they want without telling people (ONLY if on ARVs daily and undetectable! Obviously..!) So these videos on ‘My HIV doesn’t define me’ - YES IT DOES DEFINE YOU I’m afraid. HIV does define you to the public they see ‘clean and dirty’ - ‘safe and unsafe’ They look at HIV and see the person as HIV

Just watching the BBC documentary. Sad but riveting. I’m not a gay man but my best-man at my wedding died of AIDS in 1989. I’m rather nostalgic for the early to mid 1980s, if that’s not too inappropriate given the context. RIP Steve.

All that has happened is it’s gone from the exact same stigma and exclusion Ryan White suffered being told he’s ‘infecting the other kids’ and you saw the worst of humanity in panic. I can understand it especially after covid but not now. The discrimination is still there. Gone no we’re and never will. If you have it do yourself a favour and tell no one not even family.. and you might make it a few years. Not many, don’t think decades and don’t think opportunistic infections don’t happen as you end up as a living infection, just one big infection. I can’t walk a few laps of my park anymore as my healths been taken from me. My life first catching it but. It was the discrimination and peoples feelings that killed me and no one wanting to help or act in anyway despite years of pleading. You have no one with hiv, people are embarrassed even if they say they aren’t they are. So don’t let people know. Everything’s bliss until people know.. and the police keep revealing my status so it’s not legally protected. It’s a death sentence and it’s still 100% AIDS - get on ARVs as quick as possible, mistake that got made with me as they left my immune drop.. I think that was intentional too as it was 2013. Life literally had just started and then it’s over. Stuck around and had opportunity after opportunity for death pass me by and not take them and each time I leave it it becomes more like being trapped inside Michael douglas the game as sense gets ignored. Has been two years. One persons pride led to a vendetta to destroy my life and sanity. One persons pride, a woman who will live to her 80s and I’m sat shaking on my bed, shivering with pneumonia as we speak.. can’t heat up and I’m 33. So the discrimination just went underground, nothing has changed unfortunately and that’s from someone who’s had it ten years now. Since age 23.

He’s dealt with the same stigma and shame I am now but not the mass public shaming and then a discrimination case built against me as I was taking my ARVS properly so saved her life unlike mine was. Saved her life when she didn’t even know it needed saving same with all of my partners. People can say ‘okay so it’s impossible to transmit now but he didn’t tell her?’ Try living without friends or a girlfriend for ten years because of three letters that used to affect no one, not even me and now life is beyond unlivable. My want to live is gone. Chest badly infected. Fought for my life for 18 months, can’t do 18 minutes walking round the park now, healths gone life quality is gone and all as people can’t accept the medicine protects everyone. No one needs to be scared of sex with someone in the Uk anymore, they certainly are though and won’t even do it, they’l go from LOVING SEX all day to making blatantly false police statements. Personal experiences and I’ve documented my story.
